CrossLoop is a way to quickly connect 2 computers (Windows or Mac), without needing to leave software permanently running on your computer.

You don’t even need to give your name or email address if you don’t want to.

If you would like me to connect to your computer and share your screen, follow the instructions below, and we can get connected in a few minutes (or seconds if you’ve already installed CrossLoop).

  1. Go to www.crossloop.com/ipage.htm?id=download in your Browser.  You need to click on the text link right at the bottom “Skip CrossLoop Pro – Take me to the free version of CrossLoop. It is for my personal use and I understand that it will be supported by advertising”.  Alternatively try this link.
  2. Click the Download link at the top right of the screen (there are installation instructions on that page as well as those I’ve provided here).
Depending on the browser you’re using either:

    • Save File, then run CrossLoopSetup.exe

      • or click Run in the box that opens
    • If you’re using Vista, you’ll need to give permission to continue.
  3. Install the program by responding to the prompts:
    • Leave English selected and click OK
    • click Next
    • select “I accept the agreement”
    • click Next
    • choose where you want Icons created
    • click Next
    • click Install
    • leave “Launch CrossLoop” checked and click Finish

A box will pop up asking you to create a CrossLoop Account.

  4. Click the Skip link at the bottom right of the box.
    • You will now see a window with 2 tabs: Access and Share. Make sure Share is selected.  An Access Code will be shown on the tab:
      Crossloop Access Code
The Access Code changes each time CrossLoop is restarted.
  5. Send me an Instant Message, Email, or Call me and tell me the Access Code.
I will enter this code into the CrossLoop program on my computer.
  6. Click the Connect button.
    • You’ll get a Warning, letting you know that I would like to connect and share control of your computer.
  7. Click Yes within 2 minutes, to let me share your screen.
    • You may get one or more prompts from Windows Firewall, or another firewall program, if you have one installed, to allow CrossLoop to connect.
    • If so, click Unblock, (or Allow, or whatever allows access through your firewall)

I should now be connected to your screen and can help you.  The CrossLoop window records how long we have been connected for.

When I have finished I will click ‘Disconnect’.  A box will then pop up asking you for Feedback.  Hopefully you’ll enter:

  • Would you use CrossLoop with this person again? “Yes”
  • In this session: “I received help”
  • Comments: [Insert complimentary comments] ;-)

This all gets recorded on my CrossLoop profile.

Now that the program is installed on your computer, you can run it any time you need assistance from me, or another CrossLoop user, click on the icon on your desktop or in Quick Launch, or go through the Start Menu.

You can also use it to help someone else, (just point them to this page if they need reassurance when installing), you need to select the Access tab if you’re going to be the one providing help.

If you notice anything is wrong with the instructions above, please let me know, as it probably means CrossLoop have changed something on their website or in the program.  I can then update these instructions for the next person who needs them.
