Similar to the series of posts about “Free” alternatives (which are just as good if not better than the paid-for software), there are also “better” alternatives to some other free programs that most people use without thinking.

Use Mozilla Firefox (Fx) instead of Internet Explorer (IE)

Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) is better than IE6 was, but I would hate to do without Firefox now.

IE7 incorporates some of the features that originally could only be found in Ff, such as tabbed browsing. But Firefox is much more versatile, and the add-ons available are amazing.

Here’s what Mozilla say about Firefox themselves:

Enjoy a Better Web Experience

Firefox 2 delivers helpful new features to make your online experience more productive.

Stay Secure on the Web

Firefox continues to lead the way in online security, and now includes active protection from online scams to keep you safer.

Personalize Your Browser

Choose from over a thousand useful add-ons that enhance Firefox. It’s easy to personalize Firefox to make it your own.
